The 15th annual Eufaula Indian Community Pow-Wow & Homecoming, held at the east ballpark on the shores of Lake Eufaula, was a big success, thanks to the efforts of George Tiger - EIC PowWow Chairman, Randy Frasier and others.
Mrs. Norene Tiger was this year's Honored Elder; Drumkeeper was Dugan McIntosh; EIC PowWow Princess was Brooke Larson and George Coser Jr served as emcee. The Honor Guard for Sunday evening was VFW Post #8798 and Ladies Auxiliary.
We arrived Sunday evening and began by checking in with Mr. George Tiger and Randy Frasier, then wandering about to shoot some video of the vendors and attendees, before the main ceremonies began. Having covered many events of all types in the past, I was particularly struck with how friendly everyone was.
The Grand Entry began around 8pm, (click for Grand Entry video) followed by various ceremonies and dances. It was really something to behold. The sights and sounds transformed us to another time and place. The costumes were stunning, the songs were enchanting and the dances, well..see for yourself, (video).
