Under sail on Lake Eufaula What's happening on Lake Eufaula this (now last) weekend? That was what we were asking each other as we drove back from a video assignment late Saturday night.
Our little sailboat has sat in the carport since last season, so we decided to resolve both issues by setting sail to see what we'd find out on the lake.
The closest boat ramp is at Piney Creek, but when we arrived the water was so high that their dock had drifted off and we had to estimate where the ramp might actually be.
Once out on the lake, we realized we'd forgotten how to rig the sails. After a short dispute where I was nearly ordered to walk the plank, we had it figured out. Well, Jean had it figured out and so won the title of "captain".
We didn't find anyone fishing, but plenty of pleasure boats and even another sailboat, one we recognized from the Bucket Regatta, held last month.
Our workload is a little lighter this coming week, and we hope to have more interesting articles, photos and video to post soon.
