Jul 31, 2008: QuakeCon at Hilton Anatole
QuakeCon is the current convention being produced by The QuakeCon Organization. First and foremost, QuakeCon is a huge LAN party dedicated to fans of id Software's games (i.e., Quake, Quake 2, and Quake III Arena, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Enemy Territory, and the DOOM series). We also hold workshops and roundtables where id Software employees discuss their games, technology, and their thoughts about the gaming industry. Other people and companies from the gaming community also participate in the workshops and roundtables while displaying their upcoming games and hardware. QuakeCon also hosts tournaments, large and small. Basically, it's an enormous LAN party with a lot of other stuff to do in-between deathmatching with people from all over the world!

This display showcases silent moving images of President John F. Kennedy, from his 1960 presidential campaign through his funeral on November 25, 1963. The exhibit is highlighted by eleven amateur films presented in their entirety and vividly demonstrates the importance of film preservation.

Wine enthusiasts, wine novices, wine experts and wine industry professionals! Join us at the Enchante Wine Tasting Society's Vintners Conference and Silent Auction as we celebrate wine and learn more about what it takes to start and run wine-related businesses from grape-growing and wine-making to distributing and retailing.
Wine lovers! If you have no aspirations to enter the wine industry come join us and taste wines, mingle with wine professionals and take a Wine 102 course to learn mid-level to advanced concepts about enjoying wine. A lavish buffet will be served at Friday's wine dinner and hors d?oeuvres will be served at the conference on Saturday.
The personalities are what makes this event different from many others. The main speaker is Alphonse Dotson. Mr. Dotson is the owner of Certenberg Vineyards, the immediate past president of the Texas Wine and Grape Growers Association and former football player for the Oakland Raiders. Besides being considered an expert in his field, he is also an entertaining and energetic speaker. Lauren Bias, co-propietor of Sugarleaf Vineyards; Tamara Gardellis, Marketing Director for K?orus Wines; Jeff Daniels, partner at Artisanal Beverage and other panelists will also be present. Dr. Mark Wagstaff, Tyler Junior College wine course instructor and well-traveled certified sommelier will teach the Wine 102 course offered at the conference. Event attendees will be able to meet the industry experts and ask the panelists questions.
Friday?s activities include a Wine Dinner on Friday featuring wines from Fall Creek Vineyards and Sugarleaf Vineyards. Saturday?s activities include the conference with a silent auction, speech by Alphonse Dotson, breakout sessions with Lauren Bias, Wine 102 course, wine industry panelist discussion, and grand wine tasting featuring Fall Creek Vineyards as well as other domestic and international wines.
